Case Study

FSinfact

FSinfact is run by Capgemini's UK Financial Services Consulting division to stimulate debate and comment on all matters influencing the financial services markets.

The Requirement

FSinfact wanted a web site that would set them apart in the financial services world. They wanted a funky site style that would provide a stimulus for people's views on the FS sector - with an opportunity to discuss innovative ideas.

They also wanted the facility to create articles, blogs, comments and news

The Investigation

Wired-i worked with the FSinfact team to explore their requirements - which by their own admission were quite ethereal at the start - to develop a design style which fitted their purposes well. Functionality lists were prepared to ensure that the message they wanted to give their readers and the types of responses they wanted back were available.

A key element to be able to provide a suitable solution was to be able to provide a content management facility so the they could add new themes, blog entries, surveys, news or events easily and quickly without having to redesign the site.

The Solution

A carefully planned MySQL database to handle the dynamic data such as themed articles, news, surveys, blogs, comments, etc... was devised to give the flexibility required.

A new vibrant branding was designed and built into the dynamic templates for the site.

The site had as many of the conventional barriers stripped away - such as having to log in to add a comment - so that contribution by the users was as easy as possible.

Finally, an intuitive, bespoke Content Management System (CMS) was put in place to allow Blue Kite to make the dynamic changes required to the data held on the MySQL database.

The Result

The new website has already received a very positive review from many in the industry, in particular for the design style which is thought to be "courageous" for the industry. It has also helped the FSinfact team understand their Clients and the general perceptions of the FS industry better.
